Our earthworm castings organic fertilizer can be used on anything that grows, and here's how: Houseplants: Sprinkle a thin layer on the top of the flower pot, gently work into soil and water from the top; or, if you are repotting, add 1 part worm castings to 4 parts potting soil to make a mix that plant thrive in. Top dress with more castings every 2 months. Vegetables and Annual Flowers: Line bottom and sides of plant holes and seed furrows with earthworm castings. Set seeds or plants in place and cover with soil. Side dress during growing seasons at a rate of 1/2 cup per plant or 1 cup per linear foot of row once every 2 months. Perennials: Work 1/2 cup into the soil above their root zone taking care not to damage shallow roots. Apply in spring, early summer and early fall.Roses, Trees, Shrubs and Berries - New or freshly transplanted: Mix 1 part earthworm castings to 4 parts soil. Surround newly dug hole with mixture. Spread roots over a mound of the mix in the hole and cover. Lawns- New: Apply 10 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. Work lightly into the topsoil. Mix in grass seed and water well. Lawns- Established: Apply 10 lbs. per 100 sq. ft as a top dressing. Casting Tea: Soak castings in water for approximately 24 hours. Stir and water as usual. For your convenience, we offer worm casting tea kits that include reusable brewing pouches that keep the loose castings separate from the finished tea, a measuring scoop and brewing instructions. Check them out at our WORM CASTING TEA STORE. Making a casting tea releases the nutrients and beneficial bacteria from the earthworm castings to create an invigorating, water based solution that can be sprayed directly on plant foilage or used as a soil drench. Casting tea can help suppress plant diseases, repel insects and provides immediate nutrition to plants and lawns. Compost Piles: Spread a thin layer of earthworm castings between each new layer of material to be composted. |
